Mares Abyss 22 Scuba Regulator with Balanced Diaphragm

Mares Scuba has designed the Abyss 22 Dive Regulator with all the features: balanced diaphragm first stage, tri-material valve, all metal technology, DFC (Dynamic Flow Control), VAD (Vortex Assisted Design) and mesh-grid.

The Regulators balanced first stage has an environmentally sealed design to protect from harsh materials such as silt, suspended particles and other contaminating materials. The all-metal technology is ideal for all dives, even cold water diving due to the high thermal conductivity that limits the freezing effect. Condensation also collects on metal regulators that enable it to recycle the moisture in each breath creating less dry mouth than plastic regulators. With Dynamic Flow Control manual adjustments are not necessary with this regulator as it adjusts automatically allowing you to enjoy your dive and the high-pressure poppet was designed for a '2 year or 200 dives' service interval; double the high-pressure seat life standard.

Mares made the scuba regulators body compact with a modern and smart style that’s made of hot-forged nickel-plated and chromed brass. It is fitted with a preferential intermediate pressure port for connection to the main second stage, plus 3 other LP ports and 2 HP ports. The HP ports are inclined at a 45º angle to allow a better layout of hoses. And a ergonomic exhaust ensures superior hydrodynamic performance and reduced exhalation resistance.

SECOND STAGE

A Vortex Assisted Design is offered in all Mares Regulators, which utilizes an air bypass tube that conveys air to the mouthpiece and keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation. This allows for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths. The mesh-grid design on the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the second stage diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. It’s made of nickel and chrome-plated brass that offers a number of benefits including absolute ruggedness, thinner walls, and compact dimensions. This results in reduced water drag and an anti-freeze function enhanced by the "radiator action" of the metal.

Its streamlined shape optimizes the traditional regulator profile that is now made efficient by the functional contour on the cover that was developed to make water inflow and outflow easier while breathing and swimming. The cover is made of technopolymer, a lightweight and impact-resistant material and a large manual purge button is centrally located for ergonomic positioning. Also, the mouthpiece is of soft hypoallergenic silicone: limiting jaw fatigue and offering a secure fit even after very long dives.
